Bang Bang

Another very early Blender model; anyone who starts into game design will sooner or later be required to model a weapon. This is my first attempt at a simple revolver. Desperately tricky for someone fumbling their way around a new piece of software. I had to make and remake portions of this model over and over again to get them right. Definitely a learning experience.

V

I love 'V for Vendetta', so a Guy Fawkes mask was an easy choice for this learning project. This is one of the first 'face' models I tried to create using the 3D modeling software Blender. Like something dug up at an archaeological site, this is ancient history representing my first stumbling steps towards learning how to model.

Rage

This neat little image was created around the same time I composed the Diptych for my ArtDM 111 class; the image of me is one of the pictures I took for the 'Red Rage' half of the final project. I manipulated the photo to appear as if it were a drawing, based on a tutorial I had run across on the web. I cannot stress enough to potential digital artists just how much of a treasure trove the net can be as far as tutorials and projects off all kinds are concerned. I've learned a lot from Youtube videos, online communities, and email exchanges with other artists.

Future Imperfect Prequel

A much earlier, and racier, version of the Future Imperfect design. I was working to see if I could create a faux-neon effect, and it seemed to work pretty well. The light streaks in the back, however, not so much. All Photoshop effects.

Crackd

Another self portrait - this one just a personal afternoon project. Done entirely with Photoshop - I wanted to see if I could create a decent 'cracked' look.

Godfathers of Space

So this one probably needs some context - my wife Crystal, my friend Nick, and I (the partners making up Drunken Alien Studios) all play MMO video games, including Star Wars, the Old Republic. The above images are of our characters. The genesis of these images was a 'design contest' between Crystal and I; we challenged each other to do something related to our guild (Seelund Trading Company), based off of movie posters. She went with Scarface and Goodfellas, and I went with the Godfather (Seelund is a Trade Cartel - a sort of mafia family in space). I think they turned out very nicely.

Pure Gold

Another piece of concept art for a game...that's me on a gold coin. My wife Crystal helped me on this image to get the portrait to look properly 3D - that wavy design for the hair is all her work.
